The Poster Boy of Hopetown Darlington

Inspired by the vintage travel posters of the early to mid-twentieth century, Darlington-based artist Jonny Lancaster designs fresh contemporary prints and gifts based on locations in the north-east.

Jonny endeavours to capture the beauty of the places on our own doorstep and also to have fun with local landmarks and sayings.

‘I’m honoured that Hopetown Darlington approached me to commission a series of artworks depicting iconic local landmarks,’ says Jonny. ‘The site is close to my heart as I got married in the museum building in 2017. I’m excited to be part of the next chapter as it evolved into Hopetown Darlington.’

Jonny’s illustrations of Hopetown’s Goods Shed, Middlesbrough’s Transporter Bridge, the Funicular at Saltburn, and the Town Clock have been reproduced onto a range of goods including prints, jigsaws, and chocolate bars, all available to purchase in Hopetown Goods and Gifts.
