Whether you're stopping off for a quick cup of tea and a visit to the loo, or spending the whole day at Hopetown Darlington - we can help you plan a bespoke visit that will give your group plenty to talk about once they're back on the road. 

Guided tour of North Road Station Museum

Join one of our curators for a guided tour of North Road Station Museum highlighting key objects. The tour will last up to 45 minutes. £10 per person, minimum group size of 10.

Highlights of The Stores

Join Alison, our Collections Engagement Manager, as she guides your group round The Stores and shows you her personal highlights from our collection of 30,000 objects. This tour lasts 60 minutes and costs £10 per person (minimum eight people)

Family History Workshop

In this two-hour workshop, our Collections Engagement Manager will guide you through family history resources. Perhaps you'll find a railway relative! £30 per person including refreshments. Minimum 10 people.

Self-guided visit

Explore Hopetown Darlington for as long or short a time as you want. Pre-booking recommended.

Information for group organisers

Coach drop off is on Station Road directly outside Hopetown Darlington. There is no coach parking on site. The nearest coach parking is on Chesnut Street, a 9 minute walk away.

Coach drivers receive a voucher for free refreshments.

All tours are recommended for age 16+

To avoid disappointment, pre-booking is recommended for all group visits.

Pre-booked groups will be greeted at the Goods Shed main entrance.

Site admission is free. Free site admission includes entry to North Road Station Museum, Darlington Locomotive Works viewing gallery and The Stores, as well as the shop, café and outdoor areas. Some exhibitions, events and activities carry a separate charge. For these, a separate ticket is required, in addition to a free site admission ticket. These include Wagon Woods adventure play park and the Brick Journeys exhibition in the Carriage Works.
